Some of the Relief Initiatives of the CPI(ML)

Relief distribution among Tsunami-affected
people by CPI(ML) comrades in A.P.

In Andhra Pradesh, a CPI(ML) team comprising comrades B. Bangar Rao, Viplavkumar, Ratnakumari, Yesubabu, and others visited the tsunami-affected villages of East Godavari. Comrades N Murthy, K Janardhan, D Harinath, and R Nagamani visited the affected villages of Krishna District. Comrades visited the most affected place, the head-quarter of Krishna district, Machilipatnam where more than 50 people had died.

CPI(ML) teams conducted a fund collection drive, collecting clothes, rice and Rs. 11,000 in cash. Clothes and rice were distributed in the villages of East Godavari district, namely Uppada, Ammenabad, Mayapeta, Christ Nagar. More than 5000 people received relief materials from CPI(ML) on 18th January. A team comprising Viplavakumar, S Prakash, K Krishna, Gangaraju, Apparao and Nani Babu distributed the relief materials in the above-mentioned villages.

CPI(ML) Units all over the country collected relief funds for tsunami victims. The West Bengal unit alone collected more than Rs.1 lakh. Many friends and non-Party people also contributed to the CPI(ML) Tsunami Relief Fund. AISA activists from JNU, DU and Jamia collected nearly Rs. 50, 000 from markets in Delhi. A team of students organised by AISA along with the Manipuri Students Association, Delhi (MSAD) also went to Nagapattinam to participate in the relief efforts. There was a road roko in Karaikal. q
