The West Bengal State Committee of CPI(ML) Liberation has extended active support to the Left Front candidates contesting the October 6 Assembly by-elections in Nandigram in East Midnapore district and Rejinagar in Murshidabad district.
In a statement issued on September 28, the CPI(ML) Liberation said the restoration of voting rights to lakhs of valid voters whose names had been deleted and are under adjudication in West Bengal, and ensuring free and fair elections by ending the ruling party’s unchecked dominance over the electoral process, were central to its intervention in the by-elections.
Against this backdrop, CPI(ML) Liberation is actively supporting Shantigopal Giri, the CPI candidate nominated by the Left Front in Nandigram, and Syed Asad Ali, the CPI(M) candidate nominated by the Left Front in Rejinagar.
The party appealed to voters in both constituencies to support the Left Front candidates in the by-elections and strengthen the struggle for restoration of voting rights, democratic electoral processes and free and fair elections.
