The CPI(ML) expresses deep concern over the tragic incident in Obra, Sonbhadra, where a hill collapsed in a quarry on Saturday afternoon during work, causing the death of at least one worker and trapping eighteen others.
The party notes with serious worry that more than twenty four hours have passed since the collapse, yet there is still no information about the condition of the trapped workers. The government has also failed to issue any update on the rescue operations.
The CPI(ML) demands that the administration immediately launch rescue efforts on a war footing to safely bring out the trapped workers. The party also demands strict action against the company operating the quarry for its negligence, adequate compensation to the family of the deceased worker, and proper and free medical treatment for all injured workers.
The party further calls for a thorough investigation into the lapses that led to this incident, strict punishment for those responsible, and concrete measures to ensure that such tragedies do not recur.
