Students of Jamia Millia Islamia in New Delhi on September 1 held a massive protest march against the admission scam in spot registration and the suspension and campus ban imposed on protesting students. AISA, along with AIRSO, DISSC, Fraternity Movement, MSF, NSUI, SFI and SIO, participated in the protest.
The march began from the Hygienic Canteen and culminated in a gherao of the DSW office. A large gathering of students is sitting in protest outside the DSW office, demanding a face-to-face meeting with the DSW.
The protest was organised against the blatant scam in Jamia's spot registration admissions. When students held a peaceful protest to question the corruption in the admission process, the university administration responded by unfairly suspending the students and banning them from the campus.
Instead of fixing the rigged admission process, the administration is attempting to silence students and cover up its own failures. The student organisations strongly condemned this dictatorial behaviour.
The protesting students raised three demands: the immediate resignation of the Controller of Examinations for allowing this massive failure to happen; a fair, transparent and high-level enquiry into the spot registration admission scam; and the immediate revocation of the campus ban imposed on protesting students.
The student community has made it clear that it will not be intimidated. If the demands are not met, the united student struggle will be intensified further.
