Nawada Dalit Woman Brutally Assaulted While Seeking Wages, CPIML Demands Immediate Arrest of Culprits

CPI(ML) Liberation has strongly condemned the brutal rape and attempt to murder of a Dalit woman labourer from the Musahar community in Ramgarh, Nawada (Bihar), who had gone to demand payment of her wages on August 10. The party termed the incident shameful and demanded the immediate arrest of all those involved and their punishment through a speedy trial. The survivor is currently in critical condition and undergoing treatment at Pawapuri Medical College Hospital. CPI(ML) Liberation demanded that the government ensure proper and comprehensive medical treatment for her and provide adequate compensation to the victim.

On August 17, a CPI(ML) Liberation team visited the victim’s family and expressed solidarity with them. The delegation included District Secretary Comrade Bhola Ram, AIPWA District President Comrade Sudama Devi, and Comrades Kaushalya Devi, Lalpadi Devi and Ranjoo Devi.

The party said that the incident is another shocking example of the continuing feudal oppression of Dalits and poor labouring people in Bihar. After similar incidents in Rajgir and Rohtas, the brutal assault in Nawada once again exposes the unchecked power of feudal forces and the failure of the government to protect Dalit communities.

CPI(ML) Liberation said that feudal oppression has been rising continuously in Bihar while the government remains a mute spectator. Under the BJP-led ruling establishment, the feudal forces operate with impunity.

The party demanded the immediate arrest of all the culprits, a speedy trial and stringent punishment. It also demanded that the government take concrete measures to stop the continuing attacks on Dalits, poor labourers and other oppressed sections in Bihar.
