CPIML Condemns Killing of Indian Seafarers by US Military

This is the price India is paying for the Modi government’s mortgaging of India’s strategic autonomy and national interests to the US-Israel imperialist axis.

It is disgraceful that the Indian government has refused to unequivocally condemn and hold the US military accountable for the attacks in which three Indian seafarers were killed and the safety of several other Indians was threatened at sea.

In fact, the day after MV Settebello was attacked and the MEA merely issued a routine demarche to the US envoy, another Indian-crewed ship, MV Jalveer, was attacked by the US military off the coast of Oman. And on the very day three Indian mariners were killed, PM Modi was busy thanking his “dear friend Trump” and saying that he “looked forward to working with him to further advance India-US ties”, while refusing to say a single word about the killing of Indian seafarers.

These actions clearly show the Modi regime’s complete contempt for the lives and safety of Indians, just as it did through its silence during the shameful deportation of Indians in handcuffs and shackles. This is the price India is paying for the Modi government’s mortgaging of India’s strategic autonomy and national interests to the US-Israel imperialist axis.

The government must immediately take all necessary measures to ensure the safety and welfare of all Indian seafarers currently stranded in the region, and pursue every available diplomatic and legal avenue to secure justice for the victims.
