The second phase of the Ambedkar University Delhi Students’ Council (AUDSC) elections has concluded with a decisive mandate in favour of the All India Students’ Association. Building on its strong performance in Phase 1, where it won 17 seats and contributed to a broader progressive tally of 23 seats, AISA has emerged as a major force in the council.
In a historic development, AISA has, for the first time, entered the Central Coordination Committee. At the Karampura campus, AISA registered a complete sweep, winning all posts in the Coordination Committee along with the Treasurer position. Comrade Vivek, councillor from MA Performance Studies, has been elected Treasurer, becoming the first AISA representative to hold this post in the history of the AUDSC.
All Coordination Committee seats at Karampura have gone to AISA, with comrades Mrinalini and Mantasha representing undergraduate students, Adwitya and Rania representing postgraduate students, and Saurabh from the PhD constituency. This decisive victory reflects a clear and growing student mandate for progressive, democratic politics.
The results also underline the continued rejection of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, which has failed to gain significant support, securing only two seats overall. The Students’ Federation of India, which had held Treasurer and Coordination Committee positions unchallenged in previous years, has lost all such posts in Karampura and has been unable to secure an absolute majority in the Kashmere Gate campus.
At Kashmere Gate, AISA mounted a strong challenge. Its Treasurer candidate, Comrade Mehal, lost narrowly by one vote, with one vote declared invalid. AISA has extended its greetings to Sahil, an independent progressive candidate from the PhD constituency, on his victory to the Coordination Committee.
CPI(ML) Liberation congratulates AISA and the students of AUD for this significant political assertion. The results represent a rejection of communal and violent politics and a decisive turn towards a radical democratic alternative.
