On October13, CPI(ML) Liberation organised a protest in Shrirampur, Maharashtra, against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and police action against protesters in Delhi. Protesters raised slogans demanding the arrest of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the immediate scrapping of the SIR process.
The protest highlighted that the right to vote is a fundamental pillar of democracy and that no eligible citizen must be deprived of this right through the electoral roll revision process. The protesters condemned police action against people exercising their democratic right to protest and demanded that their concerns be addressed rather than suppressed.
